Bangla dates follow Bangladesh’s revised calendar: Boishakh to Ashwin have 31 days, Falgun has 29 (30 in a leap year), and the other months 30; 1 Boishakh is always 14 April and the date changes at midnight. West Bengal’s calendar is different and can be a day or two off. Hijri dates are the Umm al-Qura date moved by 1 day back for Bangladesh’s moon sighting, last checked 16 October 2026. A new month can start a day later than shown; the Islamic Foundation’s announcement is final.

How does the Bangladesh Bangla calendar work?
Since the 2019 revision by the Bangla Academy, the first six months, Boishakh to Ashwin, have 31 days each. Kartik, Ogrohayon, Poush, Magh, and Choitro have 30 days, and Falgun has 29, or 30 in a leap year. 1 Boishakh is always 14 April, so 21 February is always 8 Falgun, 26 March is 12 Choitro, and 16 December is 1 Poush.
Which Bangla year is it?
The Bangla year starts on 14 April. Bangla year 1433 runs from 14 April 2026 to 13 April 2027, and 1434 starts on 14 April 2027. Before 14 April, subtract 594 from the English year; from 14 April on, subtract 593.
Why is the West Bengal Bangla date different?
West Bengal and Bengali communities in India still use the older Surya Siddhanta calendar, where the month lengths change from year to year. Pohela Boishakh there usually falls on 14 or 15 April, so dates can be a day or two different from Bangladesh.
What is the Hijri date today in Bangladesh?
The Hijri date shown is the Bangladesh date. Bangladesh starts each Islamic month after its own moon sighting, which is usually a day after Saudi Arabia, so the page also shows the Saudi Umm al-Qura date. When does the Hijri date change?
An Islamic day starts at sunset (Maghrib), so in the evening the Hijri date has already moved on to the next day. This page changes the Hijri date at midnight with the other calendars.
