Frequently asked questions

When does Ramadan 2027 start in Bangladesh?

Ramadan 1448 is expected to start in Bangladesh on Tuesday, 9 February 2027, with the first Sehri before dawn that day and the first Tarawih the evening before. The National Moon Sighting Committee confirms the date after the moon is seen, so it can move by a day.

How are the Sehri and Iftar times worked out?

Sehri ends at Fajr, when the sun is 18° below the horizon (the Karachi method used in Bangladesh), and Iftar is at sunset. Like the Islamic Foundation, the page ends Sehri a little early and starts Iftar a little late as a safety margin. For Dhaka it matches the Islamic Foundation’s 2026 timetable to the minute on all 30 days.

Are the times the same as the Islamic Foundation’s?

They are worked out the same way from each district’s own position, so they should agree with the Islamic Foundation’s district timetable, or differ by a minute at most. Follow your local mosque or the official timetable if they differ.

Why is Iftar earlier in Sylhet and later in Rajshahi?

The sun sets first in the east of the country. Iftar in Sylhet, Chattogram and the hill districts comes up to about seven minutes before Dhaka, and in Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj and the north-west up to about eight minutes after.

Is Ramadan 29 or 30 days?

An Islamic month has 29 or 30 days, depending on when the new moon is seen. The timetable shows 30 days and marks the 30th as depending on the moon sighting. Eid ul-Fitr is the day after the last fast.

When is Shab-e-Qadr (Laylatul Qadr)?

Laylatul Qadr is sought in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan. In Bangladesh it is marked on the night before the 27th fast, which the timetable highlights along with the other odd nights.

Can I print the Ramadan calendar?

Yes. Press Print to get the full timetable for your district on one page, or choose “Save as PDF” in the print window to share it on WhatsApp or Facebook.
