Why convert AVIF to JPG?
AVIF is a newer format that is often half the size of JPG at the same quality. JPG is the most widely supported photo format. Every phone, computer, website, and form accepts it. People convert AVIF to JPG because many apps, editors, and upload forms still can’t open AVIF files.

About the Image Converter
The image converter changes a picture from one file format to another, such as an iPhone HEIC photo to JPG or a WebP image from a website to PNG. Drop in as many images as you like and download them one by one or as a ZIP.
How to use it
- 1 Choose the format to convert to.
- 2 Drop in your images, or click to choose them. HEIC photos from an iPhone work too.
- 3 Download each image, or all of them as a ZIP.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Conversion happens in your browser, so your photos stay on your device. Only the free HEIC and AVIF code libraries are downloaded, the first time you need them.
How do I convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG?
Drop the .heic files in and choose JPG. The tool reads HEIC itself, so it works on Windows and Android too, where HEIC photos often won’t open.
Does converting lower the quality?
JPG, WebP, and AVIF are lossy, so the tool saves at a high quality you can change. PNG is lossless. A JFIF or JPG converted to JPG at full size is copied as it is, with no quality lost.
What happens to a transparent background?
PNG, WebP, and AVIF keep it. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you pick, white by default.
Are animated GIFs and WebPs supported?
Only the first frame is converted, as a still image.
Is the photo’s location removed?
Yes. Converting drops metadata such as GPS location and camera details. Rotation from the camera is applied first, so the image stays upright.
Why is AVIF slow?
Most browsers can’t save AVIF themselves, so the tool runs an AVIF encoder in the background. Large photos can take a few seconds each.
